Those creatures can't be regenerated. [Oracle 2009/07/08] It does not target the opponent, but you still choose an opponent. [WotC Rules Team 1998/02/01] The opponent chooses which option they want (this is a mode choice). If they choose the "destroy" option, you choose the zero, one, or two targets after that.
