If you control this card and a Planeswalker at the time you would take damage, there will be two replacement effects--this card and the Planeswalker. You decide the order. If you have this one apply first, the damage is redirected to this card. If you apply the Planeswalker first, the opponent decides whether to redirect the damage to the Planeswalker or not. If they redirect it, the Planeswalker loses loyalty counters. If they don't, then this card's effect will kick in and redirect the damage here. [Shards of Alara FAQ 2008/09/23]
